I want to serve the school and the community. The school board is a perfect way. My goal is to continue the excellence already established by the current board and Donna Tripi. The Roger Rowe District has a reputation of having a strong curriculum, caring for the teachers and staff who work there, and fiscal responsibility.
If I become a member of the board, I want to listen and to learn. Cooperation and common ground are ways to build a community. Community becomes something really special when we see how much we truly rely on others. This I find to be a strength and not a weakness.
Covid-19 has taken everyone by surprise, and yet our District has in-person instruction, thanks to the tireless work of Donna Tripi and the board. Our waiver was accepted, and the doors are open to those who want to attend school safely. When listening in on the board meetings over the summer, I found myself inspired and grateful to be a parent of a child who attends such a caring school.
Kids and SEL
It is essential our children learn to read, write, and solve math problems, but the greatest thing we can teach them is to care for one another. If this is established when they are young they will participate in shaping community wherever life takes them.
Literature is another passion of mine. In time, when the Covid -19 crisis abates, I would hope to help further develop the library. Children can travel the world through good books. As Dr Seuss said, "the more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn the more places you'll go!"
